Grafton Banks Finance is recruiting for a Financial Controller (qualified ACA, ACCA) for a rapidly expanding global company with offices in Epsom, Surrey. This is more of a technical reporting FC role rather than a commercial one so you will need to have international accounting exposure and be willing to travel up to 30% of the time across the UK and Europe. You will also need to be technically astute with IFRS reporting standards in order to apply. The Group is seeking a highly skilled individual to lead the Group Finance team with responsibility for the monthly preparation and reporting of the consolidated results to the Group Executive team and Board, including providing insightful commentary. Working in a listed company environment, this role will be responsible for ensuring the Group financial results are prepared in accordance with IFRS and meeting all external reporting requirements including the Investor Presentation.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will use your skills and expertise to continue to integrate the financial accounting for the recently acquired European companies into the Group structure. This includes leading the transition to bring the accounting in-house for the companies which currently use external providers. To support this, there shall be an implementation of a new accounting system and you shall provide critical finance support to effect this successfully. You shall travel regularly to the various Group offices (in the UK and internationally) to build strong relationships with the accountants and Managing Directors enabling you to add value by streamlining processes and developing the financial reporting environment.

Based at the site in Epsom, Surrey, where they have high class facilities meeting clients’ needs, you shall provide a leadership role to your direct reports across both the Epsom and other UK sites. This full time role is suited to a candidate who has experience of working in a fast paced environment and is driven to very high standards of accuracy. You will be constantly striving to deliver finance support to a high standard, be an excellent communicator and be able to provide evidence of seeking improvements in all aspects of finance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly consolidated Group results, report financial results to the Board with commentary on key variances;

  • Lead the integration of the acquired companies financial accounting including bringing the accounting in house for those currently done by external providers

  • Assisting with the implementation of a new ERP system;

  • Responsibility for the overhead cost centres: work closely with budget holders to prepare Budget/Forecasts and provide insightful commentary on variances;

  • Lead technical accounting matters, ensuring the financial results are in compliance with Group accounting policies, including regular visits to the various offices (both in the UK and internationally) to support the local finance teams;

  • Responsibility for the interim and year-end external reporting for the listed Group;

  • Ownership of all corporate tax compliance and reporting ensuring all required deadlines are met;

  • Lead the purchase ledger team across two sites, ensuring compliance with Group expenditure policies.
